Whilst my blog started out as a place for my Modelmaking & Miniature work (as well as other creative aspects) it developed into a public diary of sorts, being more about myself, my past and the daily battle I face with life.
My first few posts that touched on this side of me more received so much attention, which truly was never the goal. It was a desperate means to get a little of the noise out of my spinning head.
Although I may still touch on any projects I might do, this is the way my blog will be taking.
Thank You for visiting.
It’s rather boring – and my passion and creativity has been badly affected – but, if you’d like to know a little about me:
Living on the beautiful Isle of Wight – with our family run business being a Dairy Goat Farm – I became interested in Miniatures again (having had a dolls house as a little girl) in late 2013.
Being older and with a little more direction, I approached the subject differently, recognising pieces as individual items, rather than just for Dolls Houses, which, saw the start of In Wonderland Miniatures.
Having been creative from a young age, it had grown in importance over the years, from drawing, and classical art, to photography, and digital work.
These various interests lead me to pursuing the industry, to which I began studying
for my BA (Hons) in Modelmaking, at the Arts University Bournemouth, in 2015.
As the course went on, and my knowledge and understanding of the crafts, different approaches, materials and such developed, I became aware how much could be applied in a smaller scale – and how much passion I have for the world of Miniatures.
Towards the end of my final year, I decided to not hide (as much) behind my work and put my name to the Miniature pieces I create, re-branding simply as Eleanor Catalina.
I Graduated in June 2018, with a First Class Honours in BA (Hons) Modelmaking from the Arts University Bournemouth.
Miniatures truly is where my heart lies, to which this will very much be the forefront of my work, with a focus on 12th scale food – in addition to other pieces such as: small scenes, furniture and needlepoint.
I have also be warmly welcomed as a contributor to the popular publications that cover this wonderful craft – Dolls House World, and Dolls House and Miniature Scene.
On August 1st, I started my newest and ultimate Miniature project… my beautiful 8 week old Chihuahua Puppy, Lana, who will be making the occasional appearance on here too!
